At the intersection of sculpture, behavior, and choreography, PLAY is an arena of chance encounters where visitors are invited to interact with nine office chairs that seem to have lives of their own.
Comprised of 9 free-roaming robots and an integrated sensor and custom software system, the development included a team of robotic engineers, software engineers and other specialists working together to use technology to realize the artistic requirements of the project.
Arisohn + Murphy acted as the project manager for the exhibition overseeing all aspects of the ongoing development of the project and working closely with the fabricator Mario Winkler & Co. This second exhibition of PLAY opened at Jeffrey Deitch, Los Angeles in the Spring of 2019.
