Arisohn + Murphy is pleased to present These Times Are Racing an exhibition in support of the ACLU and the Yellowhammer Fund.  As our daily lives are inundated with news of the restriction of abortion rights, inhumane treatment of migrants and immigrants, and the impending climate change crisis, art remains an essential way to process contemporary life and a means to connect in the midst of global uncertainty.

Featuring works by 8 different artists, this exhibition demonstrates the vibrancy and energy of artists creating in New York City today. Working in diverse mediums, with both representational and abstract subject matter, each artist has pushed the boundaries of their medium and subject matter into new territories. These works surprise the viewer with new perspectives on materials like tattoo ink and sheetrock or with subject matter that challenges the history of how the female body is represented in our culture. Taken as a group, the works create an energy of color, movement, and texture underscoring the optimism required to face the challenges of our era.

A+M deeply believes in supporting both artists and organizations including the ACLU and Yellowhammer Fund.  All sales from the exhibition will support the artists and all of A+M’s profits will be donated to the ACLU and The Yellowhammer Fund.  We also encourage direct donations to the organizations.

The title of the exhibition comes from Justin Peck’s 2017 ballet These Times are Racing celebrated for the “way it catches the mood of 21st-century urban protest movement.”
